Uniting Ambition partner with Halfords to build a market leading team during digital transformation

The Client

Halfords is the UK’s leading retailer of motoring, cycling and leisure products and services. 

 Through Halfords Autocentres, it is also one of the UK’s leading independent operators in vehicle, servicing, maintenance and repairs. Having gone through a series of acquisitions themselves they have also acquired and invested in additional businesses (Treadz, Cycle Republic, Tyres on the Drive) which have added to their brand. Their brand is synonymous with Motoring and Cycling.

The Brief

Halfords want to ensure they are the UK’s number one for Motoring and Cycling so are embarking on a circa £60m Digital Transformation to ensure they have a single view of their customer as well as bringing their business divisions together. 

Uniting Ambition are partnering with Halfords as they enhance their technology division by circa 40 individuals, that can support this transformation both now and for the future. Uniting Ambition have been presented with several challenges around culture, availability of the top niche quartile talent based in the Midlands and London.

The Solution

Uniting Ambition initially worked closely with the Group IT Director and the Head of Delivery to help to build a high performing team. Working through the key priorities each area of the technology team required talent in the following:

Uniting Ambition have mapped the market out to find the right permanent and interim talent to support this transformation. The project is very much a partnership model, the project has required a search approach, ensuring culture fit, appropriate reporting, managing and co-ordinating the interview process with the hiring managers.
