The Brief

UK Tote Group (formerly Altizeti) initially engaged with Betfred in a joint venture capacity with a view to purchase the Tote wholly and form UK Tote Group by the end of 2019. To do this, they needed to build the business in its entirety.

Uniting Ambition partnered with UK Tote Group to build the technology division, who are instrumental in ensuring Tote can operate on high performing technology for the UK & International B2C, B2B & B2C2B markets.

Uniting Ambition were presented with several challenges around culture and availability of the top niche quartile talent based in the Wigan and surrounding areas – the key was to attract talent away from Manchester City Centre.

The Solution

Uniting Ambition initially worked closely with the CTO, Director of Engineering and HR Director to help to build a high performing team. Working through the key priorities each area of the technology team required talent.

Roles covered:

  • Software Engineering Manager
  • Principal Engineer (Data)
  • Senior Software Engineer
  • Senior Mobile Engineer
  • Software Engineer
  • DevOps Engineer
  • Dev in Test
  • SQL DBA

Uniting Ambition mapped the market out to find the right permanent and interim talent to support this growth. The project was very much a partnership model that required market insight (including salary and day rate benchmarking), talent pool insight,a search approach, ensuring culture fit, appropriate reporting, and managing the interview process with the hiring managers.

The Outcome

To date, we have made 12 hires (across permanent and contract), with ongoing requirements.
